Rihanna talks about Britney
R+B star RIHANNA has urged the media to stop criticising BRITNEY SPEARS' MTV Video Music Awards performance. The Umbrella star believes Spears' stageshow at the Las Vegas ceremony earlier this month (Sep07) was the result of her not having performed much recently coupled with the stress of her ongoing child custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Rihanna says, "You can't judge her performance without knowing what was going on with her personally. She had so much pressure for that one performance. "I'm telling you, it's not easy being on that stage. I performed for a minute and a half, and I was extremely nervous. "To have the amount of pressure that Britney had? I don't know what I would've done. She did her best, so leave her alone."

Joey to Britney: I'm Here for You, Sweetheart
Joey Fatone is offering Britney Spears a getaway from her life in the spotlight.
"Britney, call me, come over to my house, come to Orlando, get away from it all," Fatone, tells Extra. "It's a good thing to get out of L.A."
Spears is working on a career comeback with a new album due out in November. But she's suffered a series of setbacks, including scathing reviews of her performance at the Video Music Awards and a very public battle with her ex-husband Kevin Federline over custody of their two sons.
"I think she just needs some time, some time to really heal," says Fatone, who has known Spears for many years. The current Singing Bee host was also a member of N' Sync with Spears's former flame, Justin Timberlake.
Fatone tells Extra that he hasn't seen Spears in some time, but has a message for his old friend: "If you're there, let me know. I'm here for you, sweetheart."

Britney charged with Hit-and-Run
Britney Spears's bad month just got worse: She has been charged with hit-and-run causing property damage and driving without a valid license, the Los Angeles City Attorney said Friday.
The charges stem from a fender-bender in a store parking lot on Aug. 6. Spears, 25, made a wide, right turn into a parking space and scraped another car's bumper. (The incident was captured on video by celeb photo agency X17.)
"According to the DMV, Ms. Spears was never issued a California license – ever," City Attorney's spokesman Frank Mateljan tells PEOPLE.
The other car's owner filed a police report at a North Hollywood station.
Her arraignment is set for Oct. 10 in a Van Nuys, Calif., court. If convicted on both misdemeanor charges, she faces up to a year in jail, Mateljan says.
Pasadena attorney Richard Hutton, best known for representing Paris Hilton in her probation-violation case earlier this year, says California residents must get a California driver's license within their first 10 days as a resident.
Spears has been pulled over several times in recent years with being cited for the license violation. Hutton (who is not involved in the Spears case) says it's possible officers were persuaded she maintains a residence in Louisiana and legitimately considers herself more a Louisiana resident than a California resident.
Overall, Hutton says, the charges are "minor stuff" and Spears could escape with a fine and probation.

Britney parties with her friends
She may be partying, but she ain't drinking.
Although Britney Spears hit the L.A. club scene Tuesday night after a judge ordered her to undergo random drug and alcohol testing, a witness tells OK! that the pop star did not consume any alcohol, at least not during her stay at Hyde Lounge.
"People were drinking around her and doing shots and such but we didn't see her drinking," the source says.
Alcohol or not, it didn't stop the 25-year-old from having a good time with Alli Sims and Avril Lavigne.
"She was definitely not in a sad mood by any means though. She was having a great time with everyone."
